Who we are  

ENAR Foundation was established in 2009 by ENAR to solidify the funding base of the European Anti-Racism movement and to support innovative actions in support of building a racism-free Europe. In recent years, ENAR Foundation’s portfolio of activities has expanded and recently it received a grant to begin exploratory work to establish a pan-European investment vehicle for racialised-led socio-preneurs developing products and services that address the climate transition challenges facing us.

The Racial Economic and Justice Investment (REJI) Fund is the first of its kind and will need an exceptional caretaker to deliver on its promise.  ENAR Foundation is therefore looking for an experienced impact and ethical investment fund coordinator to join our team and help us achieve our mission of creating positive social and environmental change through innovative financing solutions.

We are looking for an individual changemaker who understands the lay of the impact investment land and is willing to help us build from the ground up a social impact investment vehicle that funds socially impactful, economically viable, and environmental sustainable ideas. That includes exploring the legal and operating restrictions, developing and implementing the right funding model that ensures the Funds, and managing the initial portfolio of beneficiaries.

You’ll be working as part of a small start-up team responsible for implementing an ambitious strategic work plan and thereby grow and solidify ENAR Foundation’s capacity to act for systemic change whilst supporting ENAR and its grassroots members to empower and enable them to advocate and support marginalised communities. Together with the rest of the team you will be navigating untested waters and will need to use your entrepreneurial skills and knowledge, diplomatic prowess, knowledge of the investment ecosystem and approaches, and your commitment to anti-racism to spark a paradigm shift that ultimately empowers racialised communities.   

Our objective is to achieve a truly ethical investment fund that aligns with our Anti-Racism values and applies a decolonial and intersectional lens to investing – the candidate will share this vision. We are searching for an investment wizard, and an innovator who thinks outside the box to keep our programmes fresh, relevant whilst furthering our track record for impact. We’re looking for a professional and proficient impact investment professional who will be able to ensure our operations meet our fiduciary responsibilities and build the foundation to an evergreen fund. An individual who is not afraid to get stuck in the weeds of operational work but is also capable, rigorous and brings a start-up mentality to our activities.  

The selected candidate will be able to conduct the necessary due diligence to ensure our operations are legally sound across Europe, to set up and maintain strong financial processes and reporting procedures, ensure that the organisation meets fiduciary requirements and able to meet the highest standards to reassure donors of effective financial management of their investments. The candidate will be able to establish budgets collaboratively with the Executive Director, and Development and Granting Officer for our programmes in compliance with our overall organisational strategy.    

Your Responsibilities  

As REJI Fund Coordinator, we’re looking to you to:  

Establish the Fund  
  • Conduct a mapping study to identify the regulatory requirements that would apply for our pan-European investment vehicle.  

  • Define a strategy for implementation that outlines the best investment vehicles to achieve our aims, including equity, debt, guarantees, or blended finance.  

  • Develop and define governance processes for the Fund that enable effective due-diligence, and selection processes that are fit for purpose and achieve our impact investment goals.   

  • Lead processes to register the fund with the appropriate regulatory authority together with the Executive Director, the Development and Granting Officer, and Operations and Finance Officer.

  • Secure together with our Partnerships Manager, additional investors, both institutional and individual who share our vision and values, and who are willing to provide capital and expertise.

  • Develop and define assessment and due-diligence procedures for the selection of the organisations to be supported through REJI in accordance with ENAR Foundation and ENAR organisational values.  

Coordinate the Fund  
  • Serve as the primary contact point to answer questions from prospective donors, beneficiaries, and externals about the REJI fund. 

  • Represent, as appropriate, the REJI fund in front of the investment community in close partnership with other members of the ENAR Foundation team.  

  • Draft and provide regular reporting in accordance with the requirements of donors and the Board.   

Ensure the Fund’s viability
  • Continuously conduct monitoring on the Fund’s performance.  

  • Provide regular reporting on the Fund’s results and managing its risks and challenges. 

What we’d like you to bring to the role  
  • As envisaged, we think the ideal candidate will have some or all the following qualities:  

  • A bachelor’s degree in finance, business, economics, or a related field. A master’s degree or a professional certification, for example as CFA, is desirable.  

  • At least three years of experience in impact investing, venture capital, private equity, or a similar field, with a proven track record of sourcing, executing, and managing investments. 

  • A strong understanding of the impact investing landscape, the various investment products and vehicles, and the key players and stakeholders involved. 

  • A passion for social (especially anti-racism) and environmental issues, and a commitment to using finance as a tool for positive change. 

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse partners and clients. 

  • A high level of analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to handle complex and ambiguous situations. 

  • A self-motivated, proactive, and flexible attitude, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
