A number of people are running the Brussels marathon, half marathon or mini-marathon for the ENAR Foundation on 2 October 2011 in order to raise money for a racism-free Europe.

"In these times of crisis, intolerance is gaining ground as a false refuge from the uncertainties of a changing world. It is now particularly timely to remember that there was never a ‘golden age’ built on intolerance. Instead, it has produced the biggest tragedies in human history. An open society based on equal opportunities is not only a basic individual right – it also produces benefits for the society at large. To support ENAR Foundation’s defense of such a society for my small part, I am running to raise 1000 euros – or hopefully more."

"For me, running the Brussels marathon is an opportunity to combine sport with a just cause, one which everyone should be concerned about. Sport is one of the best ways to realise that we are all equal, and also, all different. This diversity is part of our cultural heritage, of our wealth. The marathon is a chance to unite to show our support for the anti-racism cause. Running is a solitary sport, but with a little open-mindedness it can bring us all together."
